Adrian Everix and Tony Hards invite you to the 2026 Steve Handley Memorial quiz, which is open to u3a members only (and potential members who would like to take up our offer of one u3a activity before deciding whether to join).

This annual quiz is named in memory of Steve Handley who was a formidable quizzer and founder member of our u3a quiz team and monthly quiz group. Steve died of prostate cancer spending his last few days receiving excellent care at the Pilgrims Hospice in Margate.

The entrance fee: £5 per person payable on the afternoon by cash or card.

Teams may be up to 6 people. Teams of fewer than 6 may be asked to welcome others to their team. Individuals and pairs are also welcome to come and will be included in a team.

BOOKING REQUIRED: Contact Adrian Everix: quizevent@thanetu3a.org.uk

All emails will be acknowledged. Please do not try to book via the website.

If you turn up without booking, we may not be able to include you as we cannot exceed the venue’s capacity. The room can, however, accommodate 65 people.

DETAILS NEEDED:

FOR TEAMS: The names of the people in your team and your team name.

FOR INDIVIDUALS/PAIRS: Just give your name/names.

The Closing Date: Friday, 14th August (or earlier if all spaces are taken).

Details of who is in which team will be sent out by Wednesday, 12th August.

Other details:

The nearest car park is Trinity Square, CT9 1FG. There is a sloped alternative to steps for entrance to the caves and level access to the community room. Toilet facilities include an adapted WC.

The cafe will be open during the afternoon for soft drinks, cakes, coffees etc.

We look forward to welcoming you.

We are delighted that Nickie and Ross Holding will once again organise the raffle (cash only). The raffle is separate from the u3a quiz and members are under no obligation to buy tickets. Money raised from the raffle will be donated directly to The Pilgrims’ Hospice.
