DISCOVERY AWARD GROUP

Status:Active, open to new members
Leader:
Group email: DISCOVERY AWARD group
When: My idea for the group is that we meet every 6/8 weeks to discuss how we are getting on, offer each other ideas, support, and encouragement over a cuppa. If you can’t make the 13th October and would like to know more I’m happy to meet up another time that is mutually convenient. I look forward to meeting you!'
Venue: Ramsgate Garden Centre

Do you like a challenge? Do you enjoy completing a project and feeling a sense of achievement? Have you heard of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award? Maybe you completed yours, or started it, or mentored someone doing it at work, or celebrated a young relative’s achievements? Did you know there is an equivalent Award for adults? There is! It’s called The Discovery Award.

Like D of E it has three levels – bronze, silver and gold – and like D of E it has four sections – hobby or interest, recreational pursuit, service in the community and journey of discovery. For each of these ‘quadrants’ you choose a challenge, and at each level there are a minimum number of hours in a minimum time frame that you need to complete. Unlike D of E there is no time limit so you can do as little, or as much, as you like whenever you like. Once you’ve completed an award you receive a lovely certificate and a badge.

If you would like to find out more please look on The Discovery Award website and/or come along for a cuppa with me on Tuesday October 13th at 2pm at Ramsgate Garden Centre when I can explain more, answer any questions, help you get started and (if you’re interested) share with you what I did for my awards.

If this appeals to you and you would like find out more, please let our groups organiser know by sending an e-mail using the blue link above
